The theme for the 2010 reunion was “A Road Less Travelled, A Salute to the American Farmer”. A special thanks to Robert West for his work and coordination of the Antique Tractor Show. Without his input and hard work it could never have been as successful.
We also want to thank and show our appreciation for the people who made the wonderful antique tractors available. As I drove into Clover Bend on Friday and saw all the beautiful, old tractors lined up on the campus, I acturally had a lump in my throat. These tractors were the ones we grew up watching and using. It is a wonderful thing that the people who lovingly rebuild and cared for these machines that are truly a piece of Americana. The large expense of time and money is a gift to all of us. Words cannot express our gratitude! Thank you!!!!!
The Bono Antique Tractor Club provided nineteen (19) antique tractors for the show. Jim Baugh is president of the organization. It was founded in March of 2007 and has grown to forty-six (46) members, who own one hundred forty-nine (149) antique tractors. Norma Fowler Butts is Secretary, Jim Felkins is Vice President and Alice Baugh is Treasurer. All the members are enthusiastic cheerleaders for the group. I met one of the charter members, Larry Milner and his wife Linda, and they were great ambassadors and sources of information for the Club.
Dan West, Robert’s father, brought thirteen antique tractors to the show as well. Dan is a retired army veteran. He has thirty tractors that he has rebuilt and refurbished all together. The tractors were found in fence rows and other unlikely places. He rescued them, rebuilt and painted them, and the results are works of art. We really appreciate his efforts at restoration and the work, expense, and dedication it took to get all those antique tractors to Clover Bend.
